I have been writing media releases and other marketing materials

Recently, I sent out a media release for a company owned by my Vibratory Tub Finishing Machine brother, Scot Morgan.  Scot has been in business for himself for twenty years, and in all that time he had never tried to get the free publicity you just can’t buy – that is, by sending out a media release.And interestingly enough, I have been writing media releases and other marketing materials since 1997, but Scot never really understood what I did for a living or the fact that I have helped hundreds of businesses get free media publicity.  ]

Luckily, that has changed and my recent media release has given him prime time television news coverage, three feature news stories in print (and counting), plus radio time.When Scot was speaking with the television reporter, he casually asked how many media releases they receive each day.  The answer was up to 40 per day in their satellite office but up to 400 per day in the central news room (which is where I had sent it). 

So Scot enquired further and discovered that yes, each media release is read.  And when he asked why his story was chosen – the answer was because it was written so well.  (As you can imagine, I’ll be using that in my marketing material.)So before you send off your media release, re-read it (again) to make sure you’re in line – or on top – of your competition.  Use this checklist so you don’t miss anything:Is your story newsworthy?Do you have a hook that will entice the editor to call?Have you written a great headline that grabs attention?Are the pertinent details (the who, what, where, when, why, and how) in the opening paragraph with less important details following.

Have you included a great quote that succinctly explains why this story is relevant?Have you chosen an appropriate editor?Have you written it in the third person and proof read for spelling and grammar mistakes?Are all your facts accurate?Is it short, sharp, and simple?Have you included your contact information (you wouldn’t believe the number of people who miss this vital step)?And one more thing to ensure your business success…make sure everyone in your family clearly understands what you do for a living and who your ideal client is – it just could be one of them.

It's always exciting when a binding machinemanufacturer releases a new Vibratory Tub Finishing Machine product. Akiles, one of the most successfulcompanies in the document finishing industry, recently put out theiCoil-41, a coil binding machine that's definitely something to getexcited about. This machine contains a multitude of metal parts

Even in this day and age, plastic combbinding remains one of the most popular Vibratory Polishing Equipment Machine Factory document finishing methodsavailable. Tamerica, one of the industry's leading manufacturers,recently put out some new comb binders including the Eco-21. Here's alook at this machine's features and specifications, as well as how itrates on a scale of 1 to 10.      The Eco-21 has reasonably decent punchingcapacity. It's able to process up to 15 sheets of 20 lb. bond paper ata time. This will be great for when you're working with short andmedium-length documents. However, it will take you a while to punchpaper if your document is fairly lengthy. (This could be a problem ifyou have a lot of work to do.)

Plus, it's backed by a one-year warranty. Overall, the Eco-21 is one ofTamerica's best comb binding machines yet. This is a very impressiveproduct that would be great for a variety of environments includingschools, office, copy shops, and more.

There aren't a lot a reasonablypriced machines that offer disengageable dies and an open punchingthroat, so that really makes the Eco-21 stand out in its field. Thisdevice is very well-constructed so you'll be able to get a lot of useout of it, making it a terrific investment. The only thing that couldbe problematic with this device is its punching capacity. As mentionedearlier, the capacity is fine for shorter documents but it's not sogreat for longer ones, especially if you're going to be puttingtogether a lot of them. This is something you should consider beforepurchasing the device. If you do decide that the punching capacity isworkable, then you're going to be very pleased with the Eco-21. Take alook at it today to decide for yourself.

This machine is produced by DocumentFinishing Group (DFG for short).It is easily one of the best built and strongest pieces of wire binding equipment available anywhere.  Justlike the ETitanWire, the ETitanWireL is known for its durableconstruction, large punching capacity, heavy duty wire closer and hugenumber of other great features.These things help to set the E-TitanWire-L apart from other similar heavy duty electric wire binding punches on the market.   This machine has one of the largest punch capacitiesavailable on a desktop double loop wire binding system. DocumentFinishing Group's Turbopunch technology allows the ETitanWireL tohandle up to 28 sheets of 20lb bond paper per cycle. This largepunching capacity helps to increase productivity and is designed tomake binding your documents easier than ever.TheE-TitanWireL is made almost entirely of steel and other heavy dutymetals. This hole pattern iscompatible with standard 2:1 pitch wires and special small sized two toone pitch wire binding spines. However, it is unfortunately notcompatible with other types of binding spines or supplies.TheDFG E-Titan Wire L has one of the most durable wire closing devicesavailable on a combination wire binding system. The closer has twoheavy duty knobs that are designed to allow you to adjust the closingdistance so that every spine is closed evenly. It also utilizes twoprecision machined blocks of steel to assist in the closing the wirespines with the utmost accuracy and without the need for sandpaper.TheETitanWireL also includes a continuous punching guide, 21 fullydisengageable punching dies, a document sizing system for choosing theright size of spines, a foot pedal punch activator and a depth of punchmargin control.   

The ETitanWire-L is a 2:1 pitch wire binding machine.This means that it punches two holes per inch and is compatible withall of the sizes of two to one pitch wire spines. This means that thismachine can be used to bind documents from 1/4" up to 1-1/4" indiameter. It cannot be used to bind documents that are larger than1-1/4" and is not compatible with any other binding style other thantwin loop wire.Unfortunately, the EtitanWireL only has aneleven inch punching throat. Other heavy duty electric wire bindingmachines such as the WireMac E have a fourteen inch punching throat forhandling legal sized documents. This machine is not ideal for bindinglegal sized documents, A4 paper or 11" x 17" sheets.Like theEtitanWire, the ETitanWire-L is missing a spine hanger. This means thatoperators will need to manually thread their pages onto the wirespines. If you have ever attempted to do this you know just how tediousit can be.

Therefore, organizations who do purchase this machine willmost likely want to come up with some type of device to assist inhanging their pages on the spines. Although the closingdevice on this machine is extremely durable, it is inconvenientlylocated on the top of the machine. This makes it much harder to usethan a closer that is on the front of a machine. Operators will need tolift their documents up and place them into the wire closer withoutallowing the pages to fall off the spines. This can be extremely hardto accomplish, even for seasoned binding machine operators. The Document Finishing Group ETitanWire-L is one of thebest constructed and most feature rich wire binding machines that isavailable anywhere.It includes a large punching capacity, a heavy duty wire closer and a huge number of other great features.However,the fact that it is missing a wire hanger and has a limited punchingwidth puts this machine at a slight disadvantage when compared with theAkiles WireMac E. The WireMac-E includes most of the samegreat features as the ETitanWireL but also includes a wire hanger, alegal sized punching throat and a wire closer that is mounted to thefront of the machine. Plus it costs about the same amount.

The answer to that usually lies in how much space you have available to allocate as your laundry area

Firstly, you need to figure out what kind of washing machine you are looking for. Overview:    The DFG EC-2000 is a heavy duty electric spiral coil binding Vibratory Tumbling/Polishing Media Factory machine that is designed for users that are looking for a highquality durable machine but don't need the fully disengageable diesoffered by the E-TitanCoil.Manufactured by the DocumentFinishing Group, the EC2000 is offered at an excellent price pointconsidering its features. In fact it is one of the least expensiveheavy duty electric coil binding machines available on the market.Thismachine is specifically designed to meet the needs of organizationsthat need a heavy duty highly productive binding machine but don't needto bind documents that are longer or shorter than eleven inches.After taking the EC2000 out of the box one of the firstthings that I noticed was how heavy and durable this machine is.

Fromlooking at pictures on the internet, I thought that the case on thismachine might have been made of plastic. However, the body and case ofthis machine are actually made of heavy die cast metal components. TheEC-2000 uses the same heavy duty case and design as the more expensiveE-Titan Coil, it just doesn't have disengageable dies.Intesting the punch on this machine I was able to punch up to twenty fivesheets of 20lb paper. However, this was a fairly tight fit. I wouldprobably recommend punching between twenty and twenty-two sheets ofpaper at a time. This is actually a very good punching capacity for amachine of this type and should offer excellent productivity for mostmedium and large sized organizations.The EC-2000 includes apair of spiral coil crimping pliers in the box with the machine.

Thesepliers are designed to cut and crimp the ends of your coil so that thespirals do not spin back off of your bound documents. It is great thatthis machine includes a pair since they cost about $30 if you have tobuy them separately.In addition to the heavy duty electricpunch, the EC2000 also includes a number of other great features. Ithas a document measuring device built into the right side of themachine and a depth of punch margin control on the left side of themachine. It also has a spiral coil inserter on the top of the machineand a foot pedal switch to activate either the punch or inserter.    Weaknesses / Limitations:    The major limitation of the EC2000 and the reason why itcosts considerably less than some other electric coil binding machinesis the fact that it has no disengageable dies. This simply means thatit is not possible to stop any of the individual pins from punching.This may not seem like it is a big deal. However, this fact makes italmost impossible to punch any size of document other than eleveninches using the binding machine. Truthfully, the machine can punchalmost any length of document.

However, without disengageable dies,your pages will end up with a half hole on the edge of your documents.This does not look professional and the holes are so close togetherthat it is virtually impossible to avoid.The EC-2000 has abuilt in electric coil inserter. However, the inserter on this machineis more difficult to use than some of the other coil inserters that Ihave used. For starters, it only has one roller instead of two and theroller is only six inches long. Many other coil binding machinesinclude dual rollers that extend the entire length of the machine.Using two longer rollers is easier for inserting coils than using oneshorter one. Plus, the roller on the EC2000 is located on the top ofthe machine. This design forces you to lift the pages of your documentup to the roller, adding time to the inserting process. The inserterstill works fine, it is just more difficult to use than other coilinserters that I have evaluated.This machine uses a footpedal to activate the punch and the coil inserter. However, the footpedal is not nearly as heavy duty as the other components used on thismachine.

The foot pedal is the weakest link in this machine and considering that it will need to be stepped on hundreds and thousandsof times this is somewhat concerning. This means that it may need toeventually be replaced.    Recommendation:  Fororganizations that only need to bind letter sized documents, theEC-2000 is an excellent choice. Although it cannot handle legal size,A4 or half letter sized sheets, this machine has all of the otherfeatures included in far more expensive binding machines.Ithas a heavy duty electric punch, a built in coil inserter, a depth ofpunch margin control and even comes with a pair of coil crimpers.All of these things make the EC2000 an excellent choice for medium and large sized organizations.Thereare certainly better machines available on the market. However, thismachine provides an excellent value for your money provided that youcan live with its limitations.
